How To Create The Perfect Domain Name

Posted by: J_Mart on 22nd June 2008

Coming up with a well thought out domain name can be quite a task. You want to make sure that it’s perfect for the content of your site. After all, this will be the location of your website. So what are the main ingredients in the perfect domain name? Below I have created a guide to help you choose the domain name that’s right for you.

First of all, I want to start out answering the question that I hear a lot of people asking. Can you get good rankings with .info TLD’s? And the answer is, of course you can. Just because you have a .info TLD, doesn’t automatically mean that you’re not going to have a good ranking for Google searches. No matter if you have a .com, .net, .org, .info, or a .cc, your site can still have great search engine rankings, and be really successful. Yes, .coms are more popular, but they are also more expensive.

The key to having a great domain name has nothing to do with the TLD really. To come up with an excellent domain name you need to remember two key things. The first thing is that you want it to have good keywords related to the content on your site. This helps boost your rankings in search engines like Google. For example, if you have an online arcade, then you’ll want your domain name to have keywords like “Online Arcade”, “Free Arcade”, “Flash Arcade”, etc. The second thing that you need to remember when creating a domain name is that you want it to be pronounceable and easily memorable. I was talking to a friend of mine about choosing a domain name for another site that we’re going to be getting up in about a week, and he reminded me of this good guideline to go by when trying to create a domain name.

The perfect domain name is one that you can tell someone over the phone, you don’t have to spell it out for them, and they remember it with ease.

For example of this, you can look at big sites like MySpace, FaceBook, YouTube, etc. These are really great domain names because they follow the guidelines stated above. I hope this will help you next the next time you go to register a domain name.

Review: GoDaddy.com Domain Registration

Posted by: J_Mart on 12th May 2008

www.GoDaddy.com

GoDaddy is one of the most well-known domain registrars.

This may be partly do to their extensive T.V. advertising, or maybe it has something to do with their “GoDaddy Girls”….

But aside from that fact, they offer great prices, lots of freebies with every domain, and they also have pretty good customer service.

You will hear many different opinions concerning GoDaddy though.

Many people love it, but at the same time, many people hate it.

If I could hate it, I’m sure I would, but I am having quite a difficult time finding any down sides with them!

When you need to purchase a brand new .com domain name, use this code:

OYH3

This will save you quite a bit of money!

This code will make any new .com cost only $7.15 (ICANN fee included)

Once you have your domains, changing your information is a breeze.

You can change your nameservers, change your contact information, or even “push” the domain to someone else with a GoDaddy account!

This makes selling GoDaddy domains a breeze, because to give someone their domain, all you need is their login ID/ name, and their GoDaddy email!

Do you have a big portfolio?

Here is some info to think about, if you are considering moving your portfolio there:

  • They are huge! They will probably never go out of business.
  • They have incredibly low prices.
  • They offer plenty of bulk management.
  • You can get a spreadsheet with your domains, and information about them, almost instantly!

I could go on and on about why I like GoDaddy, but I don’t have that much time! :)

I would suggest GoDaddy to Everyone

PS: I wouldn’t suggest any of their products, except for their domains!

EstiBot is a free domain name appraiser.

But not only does it give you an estimated dollar value, it provides you with amazing stats and information.

EstiBot is trusted by almost 4,000 domainers every day!
We got that number from the appraisal tool!

As we have said earlier, it doesn’t just provide you with an estimated price.
It also gives you:

  • GF in Anchor Text
  • GF in Title
  • GF in URL

  • Alexa Rank

Premium membership is well worth your money.
The makers of EstiBot know that most internet moguls don’t like to throw their money out on something that they’ve never used before, so they are offering these deals:

  • 1 day trial - $1
